How does ExpertiseFinder work?
ExpertiseFinder is a "metadata-driven search engine": in addition to searching with your keywords, it determines the concepts associated with your query and searches with those concepts.

For example, when searching with "microarray database", ExpertiseFinder searches the scientific literature, patents
and funded grants with concepts such as "Databases, Genetic", since this concept is a major
descriptor of microarray databases. Researchers associated with these data sources are then ranked according to how closely correlated their work is with those concepts.
