The Gated Object Productivity Rating (GOPR) score is a metric developed by ResearchScorecard that captures a scientist's success in producing tangible research products.

GOPR is an overall score based upon a scientist's total output of different types of "gated objets", that is, research products that are dependent upon external entities for validation. Examples include peer-reviewed publications, successful grant proposals, patents (issued or not), clinical trials and medications that have passed FDA muster.

ResearchScorecard uses the GOPR score as a proxy metric for assessing the authoritiveness of a scientist in his/her research areas, predicated on the notion that success in producing gated research products strongly implies authoritiveness and expertise.

GOPR is calculated for the researcher's activity within his/her current institution and is used to rank the researcher against a distribution of scores for all researchers in his/her area of study (e.g., Life Sciences).
