Many reasons can lead to failure when searching for a scientist, including:

• The researcher's name may be ambiguous.
• No peer-reviewed publications in PubMed.
• No grant funding.
• Misspellings of the researcher's name within source documents (ResearchScorecard tries hard to correct these).
• The scientist is no longer at the institution.
